Built in January 1969 and delivered new to Alec Mildren in NSW, this desirable Series 1 1750 GTV presents in its original, rare, and stunning Blu Metallizzato AR 337 as confirmed by the Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione which accompanies the car.
The current owner has invested a huge amount of time and money to bring the car to its current condition, including a comprehensive body and mechanical restoration, with little use since. The car is part of a private collection and is now offered for sale due to lack of use, presenting a wonderful opportunity for the next owner to own the car at a fraction of the cost of the initial investment.
The body is excellent and was subject to an extensive amount of work. The original shell was stripped and found to be in remarkably good order. The little compromised metal that was found was professionally replaced or repaired prior to finishing and painting. The panel gaps are very good, and the underside of the car is as good as it is on top.
Turn the key and the engine fires up instantly with that familiar Alfa Romeo growl. Out on the open road this car is superb. The correct 1750 engine is eager and willing, and the gearbox is a delight to use. As you would expect of a car thats been subject to so much attention there are no issues with the synchros and the cars handling, steering, and braking are spot on.
Inside the cabin feels light and airy and a lovely place to be. The dashboard and upholstery are all in fine order and attractive to the eye. Everything works as it should. The unique and desirable flying buttress seats are a real feature of these Series 1 GTVs, and they present beautifully in this car, having been professionally recovered using original fabrics. They are also incredibly comfortable and supportive.
New carpets have been fitted throughout and the headlining has been replaced with the correct type.
Its quite refreshing to see the original wheels still on this car and they have been fitted with brand new tyres and the original hub caps are in excellent order.
Overall, this presents as a spectacular and rare Series 1 1750 GTV in an unusual factory colour, with a significant investment made to undertake a huge amount of work both mechanically and cosmetically. A substantial number of invoices accompany the car along with images of the various stages of restoration. This would be the ideal purchase for someone wishing to avoid the pain and cost of undertaking a restoration - all the hard work has been done!
All in all, this car is a stunning example of this rare and desirable Alfa Romeo.
