Pillarless Mercedes coupe that oozes style, sophistication and draws attention everywhere it goes.
Fully restored classic 1973 Mercedes w114 280C Coupe series 2 in excellent condition. Meticulously restored by Engineer owner (long time Merc collector/restorer) over the last 8 years, and regularly serviced by local specialist classic Mercedes mechanic.
Australian delivered and compliance plate (October 1973), third owner. Full Victorian Rego (until Dec 2024) and RWC. Odometer reads 80,000 kms, but expected to be 180,000 Kms, engine and all mechanicals in perfect condition and very well maintained. Original 2.8L engine very strong and smooth auto transmission. Pristine interior. Factory tow bar/light connector. Original Mercedes tool set, Bilstein Jack, hazard triangle and medical kit.
This classic series 2 is a fully restored original with NOS and refurbished parts where needed all sourced in Australia and from Europe. A series 1 Zebrano wood trim and white steering wheel, together with a custom made stainless steel gear knob, have been tastefully added to complement the luxurious interior. The original Solex carby was replaced with a genuine Italian Weber 45 DFC carby rebuilt and tuned for extra power.
New items include exhaust/muffler, battery, tyres, windscreen, all weather rubber seals (including all doors, screens, boot/bonnet, windows inside and outside), period correct colour carpet set from Europe. Original sash seat belts replaced with modern inertia belts. Recent new professional paint in the correct code matched original Mercedes Maple Yellow.
Body totally rust free, and all body panels straight and perfectly aligned. Two rust sections (rear floor) were professionally removed at start of renovation and replaced with new steel panels. All other areas (sills, jack points, firewall, boot, engine bay) all rust free, and full cavity rust prevention treatment applied throughout entire body.
Reconditioned/re-build radiator, brakes, heater unit, fans, air conditioning, and alloy wheels. Car was completely re-wired with electrics, instruments, dials and switches all functioning perfectly.
Perfect interior dash (zero cracks), faultless seats (front and back), door panels, roof lining, console panels all in perfect and original condition, no cracks/damage. Original pneumatic central locking system fully functional.
Top of range Becker Grand Prix Stereo (rebuilt and fully functioning including Wunderbar automatic search function) and new Alpine speakers (original Becker speakers also come with the car). Vintage Hella driving lights and rear fog light. Classic rear window louvers from France.
Starts every time, drives amazingly and loves the open roads and freeways. Recent full service. Always maintained and stored in garage day and night, driven on weekends. Only reason for sale is to make room in garage for my next car reno project. Happy to discuss any aspect of this amazing classic car that is an absolute joy to drive and is rapidly appreciating in value.
