1988 BMW M3 Evo 1
Manufactured in April 1987, registered as a new RHD vehicle in January 1988 in Auckland NZ
Euro spec, one of 505 Evo 1 units built between March and April 1987.
The vehicles owner previous to me owned it for 28 years and explained its history as follows.
It was purchased along with 4 others by the Giltrap Group directly from BMW Germany. Shipped to London where they were then as new vehicles converted to right hand drive by Londons main BMW dealer of the time called Birds BMW. These vehicles were then shipped to NZ and sold as new vehicles with full BMW manufactures warranty. This M3 is also well known in the NZ BMW club.
I purchased it in March 2021 and have spent 2 years restoring it to 100% factory condition. It is numbers matching and even features the original Pirelli spare tire from new. Its overall condition when I purchased it was original but showing signs of its 35 years of age body wise. The interior as you can see by the photos was and is in unmarked condition.
The body was repainted by a reputable restorer here in Auckland with minimal panel repairs required, I have many photos of the process before and after.
Many hours and dollars have gone into this rebuild with stunning results. It has travelled only 132,000 kms.
