2021 Market Review - Jaguar Saloons 1949-1969

Jaguar’s XJ changed the game for sedan design but earlier, simpler cars remain the most expensive four-door Jaguars.

Mark V and the big Mark VII-IX models have been mistaken for Rolls-Royces and offer similar levels of opulence for less money. Later, sleeker Mark X and 420G models appreciated dramatically during recent years, with this value growth reflecting the immense cost of restoring these cars.

Sharing the 420G shape but smaller in stature, the 420 and S Type sedans offer good value and a sporty drive for less than $25,000. Above them all sits the archetypal Mark 2 which with a 3.8-litre engine, manual gearbox and wire spoke wheels cost around $60,000.

Smaller engines and automatic transmission can cut that price in half.
