2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Toyota/TRD 1965-2008

Toyota back in the 1960s and under the banner of Australian Motor Industries did build some Aussie-only models. However, they were Crown and Corona utilities and few seem to survive.

Better off in terms of numbers and price sustainability are Toyota Racing Developments’ version of the Hilux, which didn’t survive for long in the new-car market but remain popular. TRD’s 4000SL sold new for around $59,000 and demand has kept typical prices at $40,000.

Not so the Aurion sedan; supercharged like the Hilux and more expensive when new but not especially popular. Used examples aren’t easy to find and have slumped to be worth around a third of their original values.

Corona/Crown Utility $4500 (1)
Aurion 3500S/3500SL $18,050 (7)
Hilux 4000SL $40,800 (13)
