1930 Model A Ford Raceabout.
Built then restored in 1981 83. The jewel in the crown. This is a seriously good car. A previous offer of $70,000 was turned down in 1990. Body is all steel, bar the bonnet which is 16 gauge aluminium.
As a guide to body shape it is patterned off a GT Bugatti. Chassis has extra cross bracing and a extra cross bracing to allow the engine to be moved back and lowered in the frame to give a lowered body profile.
Engine is part A and B. Higher compression, higher lift camshaft 1 3/8. Inlet valves increased from 1 5/8 to 1 7/8. Downdraft carb (Ford script) Branch manifold, modified oil pump, pressurized 3 main bearings, Ford 10 Distributor fitted into a Model A housing. Gearbox is synchro 4 speed cast iron p frame are from possibly from a Humber 90. Windshield, stone guards, and footstep frame are from brass stock. The full through steel mudguards were a real major undertaking and took nearly a year to make. Has a stainless steel clip together hood frame. Hood, side curtains and tonneau covers. High ratio diff. Registration is on hold. Mileage is 7000 miles.
