Beetle Sphere: Volkswaen Bubble Bug at NGV

The National Gallery of Victoria is currently featuring this installation by Indonesian artist Ichwan Noor, entitled Beetle Sphere.

Based on a 1953 Volkswagen, it’s one of a series of sculptures based on 20^th century car design.

According to the gallery, rather than damage a real example, Noor carved a spherical interpretation of the car, then cast it in aluminium. The final product was finished with the use of some real car parts.
