A very pretty car indeed

The BMW 2002 was part of the Bavarian Motor Works 02 Series, which was produced between 1966 and 1977.

The 02 Series, which was categorised by BMW as a ‘compact executive car’, comprised the 1600, 2002, 1802 and 1502.

Power came from BMWs venerable M10 engine, which changed displacements, power figures and forms of aspiration over the years.

For the 2002, the M10 engine displacement was increased to 1990cc, up from 1573cc in the 1600, and this increase in size meant that 2002’s donk could churn out as much as 89kW (119hp).

Power from the M10 was sent to the 02 Series’ rear wheels via either a three-speed automatic or a four-speed manual transmission.

Body styles across the 02 Series range included a two-door coupe, two-door convertible and a three-door hatchback.

All-in-all the 02 Series was a highly successful model for BMW, with over 137,000 units being produced in its eleven year lifespan.

This particular 2002 is a ’73 model and, according to the seller, the vehicle comes with the four-speed manual and has a new clutch, overhauled brakes and a re-trimmed dash.

The seller is asking $17,500 for the 2002 and anyone interested in this excellent looking compact coupe can view the full listing here.
