2000 Ford Falcon AU XR8 – Today’s Tempter
After a cheap V8 to add to the fleet? Check out this single family-owned XR8
The AU Falcon is a bit of an oddity given its incredible popularity appears to have only materialised decades after it burst onto the scene in 1998.
What began as facetious internet humour has seemingly turned into a true cult following, and while AUs have traditionally been found for peanuts, there is no shortage of at least passing interest.
The styling is jarring and divisive to say the least, and they were critiqued with some small engineering issues that were ironed out with April 2000’s Series II update.
The performance range-topper for the Series I AU Falcon was the XR8, this one complete with original, complete Tickford options.
It’s finished in Liquid Silver over black cloth trim, and is fitted with the 5.0lt Windsor (capable of a respectable 185kW when new) and four-speed auto.
The car comes from single family ownership and was purchased new from Etheridge Ford Ringwood. It’s been well maintained and presents fully original with 198,900kms.
The seller states that they are only selling this sweet cruiser as they are downsizing their garage.
The XR8 is very well presented and looks like a great fuss-free V8 cruiser for its listed price of $5,500.
