1985 Porsche 911 Carrera - today's tempter
Air-cooled classic
Air-cooled 911 Porsches in decent shape have seen an incredible surge in value over the last couple of decades.
The classic shape sparks all sorts of emotions in otherwise mild-mannered people, something alluded to in a feature where we covered a 911 SC: "For some folks, that bedroom-wall-poster thing never goes away.
"Oh sure, some of us grow up and do sensible things with money, like buy houses and investments and school shoes for the kids.
"But some people, even if they have done all that sensible stuff, just never scratch the itch to own that special set of wheels."
This Carrera Targa runs a 3.2lt flat six with five-speed manual transmission. It comes with a known history and is said to have a very good service record. That includes a respray in in the original Guards Red in 2010.
Oldtimer in Brisbane has it, priced at $114,950.
