1986 HDT BROCK COMMODORE VL SS GROUP A PLUS PACK

1986 HDT BROCK COMMODORE VL SS GROUP A PLUS PACK

This little box of mystery attached to the firewall makes a difference to the collector.

I owned a VK Blue Meanie and while the VL Group A isn’t a patch on it, this VL is the last SS Commodore run that rolled out of Brocky’s HDT Special Vehicles. That makes it significant.

Adding to its cache, this is one of 170 Plus Packs made. These cars copped a bit of extra fettling and wore the infamous Polarizer.

Although the box of magic didn’t do anything, its notoriety is a good talking point and potentially worth a few more bucks to an enthusiast.

It’s build number 278 of the 500 SS Group As made and is in original condition with 110,000 kms on the clock. It comes with logbooks and paperwork. Over the past 12 months it has had a mechanical freshen up in many areas. They are good to drive and collectable.

1975 FORD FAIRMONT XB

XB Wagon.jpeg

Now everyone is leaping into SUVs, classic Aussie wagons like this XB Fairmont are nevertheless gaining in price and popularity.

This original survivor XB Fairmont wagon has been in the one family since new and shows 214,500kms on the clock. It claims no rust and sports the 250ci straight six up front with a column auto and bucket/bench front seat.

It also has air-con, power steering and discs and the clever, two-way tailgate. Tropicana Green in colour, it seems to be well maintained. An affordable classic that should deliver plenty of motoring joy to its new custodian.

2000 JAGUAR XKR R

Conroy Jag.jpg

I know it’s the start of winter and you won’t get to put the roof down on this superb Jaguar XKR R. But, it’s like buying a beach house, you don’t do it in the height of summer.

The Jaguar XKR was one of the British makes better efforts and to me the rounded styling has hints of the E-Type about it. There’s something about a soft top Jag in red with cream leather trim that grabs me.

This is a one owner car with 32,000 kms on the clock and, to keep you amused, it has a supercharged four-litre V8 engine tied to a five-speed auto. Come summer, cruising with the roof down, nothing could be finer.

2016 FORD FALCON FGX G6E

Untitled.jpg

Rustle up a bit over 50 grand and you could park yourself in one of Henry’s finest sedans, this side of a GT-HO.

The FGX G6E was the range-topper and is a genuine sleeper, a performance car with luxo looks and features, the best of both worlds. This one has travelled a mere 2644 kilometres and looks like new inside and out and it still wears its factory stickers and markings underneath.

Under the bonnet lies a 4.0-litre turbocharged 270kW straight-six tied to a six-speed auto. Thanks to its softer luxo underpinnings, it is a comfortable long distance cruiser.

1965 JAGUAR E-TYPE

SN4290-6.jpg

I like Aussie and American muscle cars and have owned many. Some Euro and British cars also tickle my fancy and the Jaguar E-Type is one of those.

This one is special, a matching numbers and original right-hand drive example. It’s an updated Series I with the 4.2-litre straight six and four-speed manual which is the perfect combo to tease the best from it. This is one of 1538 two-seat, fixed head right hooker coupes made and according to the identification plate, retains its original engine.

A superb car for weekend getaways or for a quick blast on a favourite piece of tarmac.
