Boreham Motorworks to produce iconic Fords
The Escort Mk1 is under wraps.

Boreham Motorworks has signed a worldwide, multi-year licence agreement with Ford Motor Company to produce a series of continuation and remastered versions, of the brand’s most historically significant road, race and rally cars. The first two being the RS200 and Mk1 Escort.

The limited-run remastered cars will be new, ground-up built vehicles, while the blueprint-accurate continuation vehicles are designed to provide the ultimate analogue driving experience.

The first two in the series of iconic Fords to be produced under the license agreement over the coming years is the remastered Ford RS200, while the initial continuation vehicle is the Group 5 Ford MK1 Escort. Both will be manufactured and distributed exclusively by Boreham Motorworks.

Coinciding with its fortieth anniversary the legendary Ford RS200 by Boreham Motorworks is an entirely new, ground-up build of a road-legal Group B-inspired driver’s car. The Ford RS200 launched in 1984 and was engineered to compete in the World Rally Championship for Group B cars, the fastest and most dangerous rally car era of all time. Boasting a mid-engine layout, advanced four-wheel-drive system and a lightweight composite body, the Ford RS200 became one of the most revered rally cars of the century.

Boreham Motorworks has also been assigned to continue a handful of Ford’s most significant road, race, and rally icons, creating blueprint-accurate, period-sympathetic vehicles with continuation VIN numbers. The first of these is the Ford MK1 Escort. Introduced in the late 1960s the MK1 became synonymous with motor-sport success, its lightweight design and advanced suspension set-up providing exceptional handling and agility on both road, rally stages and racetracks around the world.

Boreham Motorworks is the high-performance motor-sport and racing division of the DRVN Automotive Group; a sector-leading automotive company specialising in delivering a peak analogue driving experience through the design, manufacture, and distribution of luxury automotive brands, committed to innovation and engineering.

Not only will Boreham Motorworks remaster these famous Fords in limited numbers, but they will also be providing customers exclusive and invitation only membership to The Boreham High Performance Club, where likeminded enthusiasts can enjoy spectacular driving experiences globally.

At least five further iconic Ford vehicles will be produced over the course of the series, with the Ford MK1 Escort continuation to be shown to the public later this year.

The Boreham Motorworks series comes to light at the same time as Ford Performance Motorsports expands its racing programs around the world including the Mustang GT3 at Le Mans, a Ford Raptor for the Dakar rally in 2025 and Ford’s return to Formula One in 2026 with Red Bull Racing.

"We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Ford Motor Company and kickstart a series that will redefine and remaster these icons of the past," commented Darren McDermott, executive chairman, DRVN Automotive Group. "We aim to redefine automotive innovation and push the boundaries in terms of driver engagement and design. Our shared commitment to this incredible project will create an outstanding analogue driving experience and leave a legacy for the true petrol head."

"From the first time we met with Boreham Motorworks and the DRVN team, it was clear that they had an exciting vision for how to bring some of our most iconic historical nameplates to life for the modern era," commented Will Ford, general manager, Ford Performance Motorsports. "It will be exciting to see this relationship flourish and to see how Boreham Motorworks brings the vision to life at a time when there is so much passion from enthusiasts for great experiences."

Cosworth, founded in 1958 by legendary Lotus engineers Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth is aglobal leader in automotive powertrain technologies, and recently announced major changes to its leadership team, as it prepares for sustainable growth and further success.

Former CART race team owner Gerald Forsythe, through one of his company’s Indeck-Cosworth LLC, is one of two Cosworth shareholders and has been appointed chairman. He has negotiated the services of leading luxury automotive and motor-sport consultancy R-Universe, to join him on the leadership team.

Dr Florian Kamelger is appointed as Cosworth’s new CEO and Dr Andreas Baenziger will become deputy chairman. Both will join the company’s board of directors.

The new team is now beginning a thorough evaluation of the business, focusing on building its core expertise of developing and manufacturing world-leading powertrains utilising the talent within Cosworth’s different business units – Cosworth Propulsion, Delta Cosworth and Cosworth Electronics – plus investing in new technologies.

Throughout its history, Cosworth has been at the forefront of innovation, working with global partners to deliver cutting edge propulsion and technology systems to automotive, motorsport, aerospace and marine sectors. Its famous V8 F1 engine notched up 176 Grand Prix wins, ranking it third with most wins behind Ferrari and Mercedes.

Recently Cosworth developed the bespoke GMA.2 V12 engine for Gordon Murray Automotive’s latest car, the T50. Cosworth also works closely with Aston Martin and recently announced a partnership with the revitalised Bizzarrini brand.

Gerald Forsythe said, "After many years as a shareholder of Cosworth, I am delighted to take on the role of chairman. Cosworth is a world-class company, with world-class talent and expertise, and a customer base that is the envy of the industry."

The company includes electrification specialisms – with the Delta Cosworth and Cosworth Electronics divisions – focusing on high-voltage battery development and production as well as hybrid and EV control systems, drivetrains and full vehicle programmes.

"The shareholders’ commitment to the future of business has never been better, but now is the time to take it to the next level. We remain convinced that internal combustion engines have a long future, powering cars in the luxury sector – and it is this core sector where we see the most opportunity for sustainable growth. This is one of the many reasons why we have sought the unparalleled expertise of R-Universe. I am convinced that with Florian as our new CEO and Andreas joining me on the board, we have the right leadership team to propel Cosworth to even greater success," said Forsythe.

"On behalf of the Cosworth family, I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Hal for his dedicated leadership. We wish him all the best for the future."

Dr Florian Kamelger, CEO Cosworth said, "I am hugely excited to be taking on this new challenge. Cosworth is an illustrious brand that I have always admired, and it is an honour to be asked to lead a team of such outstanding talent, preparing the business for an exciting future.

"There will be changes that we have to make, as Cosworth has seen many in its 66-year history. Every time it has emerged stronger, fitter and at the forefront of automotive technology. It deserves to be seen as a true global luxury automotive brand, and the entire team will be working tirelessly to achieve that."
